Mah-e-Mir Wins Big At The Dada Saheb Film Festival 2017

Mah-e-Mir created a stir amongst contemporary cinema even before it was released. The film came across as a rich biographical account of Mir, played to perfection by the talented Fahad Mustafa. Reasons behind the success of Mah-e-Mir are countless, from flawless execution to an amazing screenplay and direction.

And now the film has made it’s name in the international film fraternity. On 30th April 2017, Mah-e-Mir bagged two awards i.e. Best Film and Best Music at the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival’17 held in Delhi, India. The award was collected by Indo peace activist Harsh Narayan on behalf of the makers of Mah-e-Mir who were not able to attend the festival due to ongoing tensions between the two nations.

The Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival is a non-profit, non-commercial and India’s only independent film festival, established in the year 2011 in Delhi. The festival is held on April 30th every year and recognizes the enlightening, entertaining and progressive new age cinema of youth and experienced filmmakers not only from India but from 90+ nations around the world.

Mah-e-Mir is a 2016 Pakistani biographical film directed by Anjum Shahzad. It is produced by Khurram Rana, Sahir Rasheed and Badar Ikram and was written by Sarmad Sehbai. The film is based on the life of the famous poet Mir Taqi Mir and a modern day poet, who draws comparisons between his life and that of Mir’s. The lead role in the movie was played by Fahad Mustafa, whereas Iman Ali, Sanam Saeed and Alyy Khan also starred in pivotal roles in the film.
