Jacqueline Fernandez recreates Madhuri’s iconic ‘Ek Do Teen’

Actress Jacqueline Fernandez, who has recreated the evergreen track Ek do teen on-screen for Baaghi 2, says nobody can come close to Madhuri Dixit’s performance in the original song.

“I can’t wait for Madhuri ma’am to watch the song. It is my tribute to her. Her performance in the original is unmatchable. Forget me, no one can ever come close to her,” Jacqueline said in a statement.

The foot-tapping Ek do teen song first featured in the 1988 film Tezaab.

For the new version of the song, three choreographers — Saroj Khan, Ganesh Acharya and Ahmed Khan — came together on the set.

Ahmed is also directing the film. He was keen to retain Saroj’s famous hook steps and even urged Manish Malhotra to keep Madhuri’s pink outfit in mind while designing Jacqueline’s costume for the new song.

Ek do teen was originally choreographed by veteran Saroj Khan.

Baaghi 2, starring Tiger Shroff, is the sequel to the 2016 film Baaghi. The film, which also stars Disha Patani, is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner name Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and presented by Fox Star Studios. It will release on March 30.

After all the talks about Jacqueline Fernandez recreating the version of ‘Ek do teen’ for ‘Baaghi 2’, here’s a sneak peek of Jacky’s look for the song.

A still from the song shows Jacqueline striking a pose in multi-coloured attire as she is surrounded by lights all around her. Choreographed by Ahmed Khan and Ganesh Acharya, the teaser for the rebooted song from ‘Tezaab’, originally starring Madhuri Dixit Nene, will release today.

Jacqueline has been part of super hit song numbers earlier too. However, this cult song definitely takes it a notch up. Calling it a tribute to Madhuri, Jacky reportedly said the diva’s moves in the original song were iconic and no one can come close to them.

Sajid Nadiadwala’s ‘Baaghi 2’ starring Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani will hit the screens on March 30, 2018.

Jacqueline Fernandez shared the first look of her version of Madhuri Dixit’s iconic song Ek Do Teen, which is a one-way ticket to the Nineties. Jacqueline Fernandez’s outfit resembles Madhuri Dixit’s fringed skirt and top but it also incorporates the current fashion trends. Jacqueline’s jazzy outfit has been designed by Manish Malhotra. Jacqueline looks as glamorous as Madhuri Dixit (if not more) in Ek Do Teen redux, which is a part of Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 2. Jacqueline instagrammed her picture and captioned it: “#EkDoTeen Chaar Panch… can’t stop, won’t stop humming this

Baaghi 2 song Ek Do Teen teaser: Jacqueline Fernandez steps into Madhuri Dixit’s shoes

On Thursday, Jacqueline told news agency IANS that she cannot wait to show Madhuri Dixit her performance on the Tezaab song. “I can’t wait for Madhuri ma’am to watch the song. It is my tribute to her. Her performance in the original is unmatchable. Forget me, no one can ever come close to her,” she said.

Ek Do Teen 2.0 is choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, who was one of the background dancers when Saroj Khan had choreographed Madhuri Dixit. Baaghi 2 director Ahmed Khan had asked Ganesh to retain the hook steps of the song. “I want the same feel of the earlier song that still looms large on everyone’s mind and also the same vibe, with the crowds chanting ‘Mohini, Mohini’ as Madhuri takes the stage,” he had said.

Before Jacqueline’s Ek Do Teen, rewind to Madhuri’s version:

Baaghi 2 stars Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani in lead roles. The film is a sequel to Tiger’s 2016 film Baaghi, which was directed by Sabbir Khan and it featured Shraddha Kapoor opposite Tiger.

For Jacqueline Fernandez, Bollywood might have happened by chance, but ever since her entry in the Hindi film industry, the actor has been entertaining the masses with her acting and dancing skills. The actor will now step into the shoes of Madhuri Dixit for Baaghi 2 song “Ek Do Teen”. The first look and teaser of the song starring Jacqueline is out. The teaser gives a sneak peek into what is their in store for the fans of the chartbuster. From what can be said after watching the 25 seconds short teaser, it seems like the tunes of the older version have been retained. If the lyrics are similar too or not will be known once the song is released.

In the first look photo, Jacqueline has struck the same pose as Madhuri did in 1988 film Tezaab’s song. Just like Madhuri, Jacqueline too seems to be looking for her beloved. Her multi-coloured costume for the song is almost similar to what the dancing diva wore in the original number. While Madhuri had men cheering for her, the reprised version has them throwing light on the Sri Lankan beauty as they hold huge light bulbs. Her look from the recreated song has left both Madhuri and Jacqueline’s fans excited to see if the latter will manage to make the song a chartbuster.

Talking about stepping into Madhuri’s shoes, Jacqueline earlier told indianexpress.com, “That was my first stress, that how can we recreate something so iconic, like is it even possible? It made it lot easier for me when I understood that it is not possible. We’re not trying to match up to what Madhuri Dixit did. We are not trying to match up to what Saroj (Khan) ji did.” While the original “Ek Do Teen” was choreographed by veteran choreographer Saroj Khan, the recreated version will be choreographed by Ganesh Acharya.

Adding to it the Race 3 actor said, “This is honestly, more than anything, a tribute to an amazing and iconic number that they gave to us, which is “Ek Do Teen Char”. And, for me as an actress, this is such an honour. I know I would never be able to match up to Madhuri Dixit, that’s not something that I’m even going to attempt. You cannot replicate someone like Madhuri Dixit, as there is only one Madhuri Dixit. I know that this is just my tribute to her.”
